Project Overview
NRG (Non-Resident Gujarati) is a mobile app designed to help NRI Gujarati kids bridge the gap between their roots and their current environment by learning the Gujarati language. Drawing inspiration from platforms like Duolingo, NRG aims to make language learning engaging, interactive, and culturally relevant. With tailored exercises and gamified learning approaches, the app ensures kids can not only learn to speak, read, and understand Gujarati but also connect with their heritage in a fun and meaningful way.
Objective
The primary objective of NRG is to empower NRI Gujarati kids to confidently communicate in Gujarati by providing an engaging and gamified language-learning platform. The app aims to preserve cultural identity by ensuring the next generation of Gujaratis stays connected to their roots while making the learning process intuitive and enjoyable.
Problem Statement
Many NRI Gujarati children face challenges in communicating in Gujarati due to limited exposure to the language and culture in their daily lives. Being born and raised outside India, they often lack opportunities to practice and learn the language, resulting in a disconnect from their cultural heritage. Traditional learning methods are either outdated or fail to hold the interest of young learners in a digital-first world.
Solution
NRG provides an innovative, user-friendly platform that combines gamified learning techniques with culturally relevant exercises to teach Gujarati. Features like interactive image-based multiple-choice questions, audio prompts, word-image matching, and audio-text exercises cater to different learning styles and skill levels. The app fosters consistent practice through streaks, rewards, and fun challenges, ensuring kids remain motivated. By blending technology with tradition, NRG helps kids develop fluency in Gujarati while strengthening their cultural identity.
